Solid Waste Program Information
The Subtitle D Program administers the authorization of the RCRA Subtitle D Program to States. It includes programs that deal with Household Hazardous Waste disposal, used tire disposal, Recycling Programs, Composting, Mercury lamps, used oil, used batteries, and many other solid waste issues. The Program provides assistance to Indian Tribes for Solid Waste Issues.
Many environmental programs have been delegated to the states and they have primary responsibility for them such as for illegal dumping and outdoor burning. Often, it is most appropriate to contact your local (city or county) or state environmental or health agency rather than EPA.
