The Census of Agriculture is the most thorough source of data on the nation's agricultural production. USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) publishes U.S., state, and county agricultural statistics for many commodities. Each year, NASS conducts hundreds of surveys and prepares reports covering virtually every facet of U.S. agriculture. In addition, NASS's 45 State Statistical Offices publish data about many of the same topics for local audiences. The NASS mission is to serve the basic data needs of people working in agriculture, and those living in rural communities, by providing usable and accurate statistical information, and services to support informed decision making.
