There are about 511,000 children in Nevada, comprising about 25% of the state population. Among children ages 0-18, Nevada is 54% white, 29.7% Hispanic, 8.7% African-American, 5.3% Asian and 1.5% Native American (Nevada KIDS COUNT, 2001).
