Environmental Education Grants Program
The 1990 National Environmental Education Act gives the EPA authority to support and create environmental education programs nationwide. The Environmental Education Grant Program is intended to stimulate environmental education by supporting projects that design, demonstrate, or disseminate practices, methods, or techniques related to environmental education and teacher training.
Grant awards are made by the EPA national office and by each of the 10 regional offices. EPA's national Office of Environmental Education awards grants of greater than 50,000, up to $250,000. Regional offices accept and process applications up to $50,000. It is a competitive program; matching funds of 25% of the total grant are required.

Recipients of Region 9's Environmental Education grant awards offer educational programs that address many national and regional priorities and issues for the EPA. Our grant program provides financial support for projects that increase public awareness about environmental issues and provide the public with skills to make informed decisions and take responsible actions. Educational agencies, colleges, universities, state and local educational or environmental agencies, not-for-profit organizations and noncommercial educational broadcasting entities are eligible.
