EPA Pacific Southwest Regional Administrator Jared Blumenfeld had some interesting discussions about the marine world, environmentalism, and the future of our oceans with Jean-Michel Cousteau of the Ocean Futures Society and Nikolai Maximenko of the International Pacific Research Center. Jean-Michel Cousteau
Jean-Michel Cousteau has investigated the world’s oceans for much of his life. He founded Ocean Futures Society, a non-profit marine conservation and education organization in 1999.

Nikolai Maximenko
Nikolai Maximenko is a senior researcher at the International Pacific Research Center. His models of Pacific Ocean currents are being used to study the movement of marine debris. He earned a PhD in physical oceanography from the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
