Final Health Assessment of Perc
On February 14th, EPA posted a final health assessment of tetrachloroethylene (perc) to EPA's Integrated Risk Information System, declaring the chemical a likely human carcinogen.
Tetrachloroethylene, also known as perchloroethylene or perc, is a chemical solvent widely used in the dry cleaning industry. Perc is also used in manufacturing and in the cleaning of metal machinery.
EPA posted the final health assessment for perc to the Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) database, declaring perc as a likely human carcinogen. EPA's assessment provides estimates for both cancer and non-cancer effects associated with exposure to perc over a lifetime.
