Chemical Testing for Potential Hormone Effects Ordered

EPA has begun issuing the first test orders for pesticides to be screened for their potential effects on the endocrine system. Endocrine disruptors are chemicals that interact with and disrupt the hormones produced or secreted by the human or animal endocrine system, which regulates growth, metabolism and reproduction. Examples of FFDCA 408(p) Orders:

As described in the October 21, 2009 Federal Register Notice, EPA intends to issue test orders requiring Tier 1 screening for the first group of 67 chemicals between October 29, 2009, and February 26, 2010. The EDSP Tier 1 screening data required to satisfy an order are due within two years of the date of issuance of the order.
