USXpress Enterprises, Inc., the nation’s fifth-largest publicly-traded truckload carrier, uses advanced technologies for freight management and equipment operation.  The company’s services include long-haul and regional truckload freight; time-critical expedited freight; multi-modal service; air freight ground transport service; floor covering logistics; and dedicated contract carriage.  

US Xpress' pledge to protect the environment and maximize productivity is realized through the following programs and technologies:

  • Road speed limit policies
  • Automated fuel router system
  • Automated load planning and dispatch system
  • True GPS dual-mode satellite communication system (intended to enhance customer load status information, improve routing, and conserve fuel)
  • Full aerodynamic packages for tractors – trailer test program underway
  • Application-specific fuel efficient tires
  • Wide-based tires on all new over the road tractors and trailers placed in service beginning 2006
  • Engine controller based fuel incentive program, designed to promote maximum fuel economy performance
  • Test and evaluation of in-cab stand-alone heating systems
  • Automated manual transmissions with intelligent shift logic
  • Society of Automotive Engineers / Technology and Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Association-sanctioned field operational fuel tests for evaluating fuel efficiency performance of components and strategies
  • 2005 or later engines utilized in 90 percent of fleet
  • 256 EPA 2007 compliant engines in service
  • Test program beginning January 2008 for EPA 2010 compliant engines
  • Test program beginning January 2008 of EAPU systems
