2011 Poster Contest Results
The national winner in 2011 was seventh-grader Jolie from Michigan.
Congratulations to Jolie, her family, and her school! And thank you to all of the students who participated in the 2011 contest.
2011 K-3 Winners
From pledging to be a sunsmart kid to tips from animals, these students are helping to educate the public on sun safety in fun, creative ways with their posters. For their efforts, each winning student received a Crayola Digital Camera Scrapbooking kit.
SunWise is teaming up with the SHADE Foundation of America to put on the 2012 SunWise with SHADE Poster Contest.
Students are invited to submit original, creative posters illustrating ways to prevent skin cancer and raise sun safety awareness. Examples of prevention and awareness tips for the posters include:
- using sunscreen
- wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses
- seeking shade when the sun's ultraviolet (UV) radiation is most intense between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
- covering up with full-length clothing to protect one’s skin
- checking the UV Index
Grades K-3
- Digital camera for top five entries
Grades 4-8
- A family trip to Disney World for the national contest winner

A Shade ‘N Net shade structure (to the value of $12,000) for the national winner’s school
