The Weed and Seed strategy is a U.S. Department of Justice initiative which began in 1991 that provides communities with resources to prevent,
control, and reduce violent crime, drug abuse, and gang activity in high-crime neighborhoods across the country. Because Weed and Seed pilots

Department of Labor (DOL)
The U.S. Department of Labor covers a wide variety of workplace activities for nearly 10 million employers and well over 100 million workers, including

labor and economic statistics.

The mission of EPA's OSDBU is to maintain and increase the level of small, women and minority business participation in procurements, contracts,
grants cooperative agreements, and other business related opportunities generated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Also, to serve as an
advocate and information resource for the small, minority and women-owned business communities who seek guidance regarding business opportunities.
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)
The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) was given major responsibility for initiating a training grants program under the
Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 (SARA). The primary objective of this program is to fund non-profit organizations with a demonstrated
track record of providing occupational safety and health education in developing and delivering high quality training to workers who are involved
in handling hazardous waste or in responding to emergency releases of hazardous materials.
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA)
The mission of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is to save lives, prevent injuries and protect the health of America's
workers. To accomplish this, federal and state governments must work in partnership with the more than 100 million working men and women
and their six and a half million employers who are covered by the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.
