What does AQUATOX do? | Potential Applications | Features and Tools
AQUATOX Release 3 includes numerous significant enhancements over previous versions, that increase the realism and utility of the model. The most important enhancements include:
- Capability to represent estuaries at a screening level
- Capability to model multiple linked river and reservoir segments
- Enhanced reservoir management options, including variable thermocline depth
- Enhanced nutrients analysis, including
- nutrient release from sediments
- daily dissolved oxygen fluctuations
- toxicity from low oxygen and ammonia
- Optional hourly time step with diel oxygen, light, and photosynthesis
- Calcite precipitation and removal of phosphorus under alkaline conditions
- Capability to simulate biological effects of suspended and bedded sediments
- Calculation of biological metrics
- Enhanced sensitivity and uncertainty analyses
- Toxicity data estimation from ICE (Interspecies Correlation Estimation)
- Expanded data management, graphics, and statistical analysis, including:
- Conversions for many units in input screens
- Enhanced graphics including log plot, duration and exceedance graphs, and threshold analysis
- Capability to plot observed data against model results and save multiple graphs
- Output of statistics for all graphed model results
- Integrated users manual and context-sensitive help files
- The software is now open source, meaning that other modelers can customize AQUATOX for their particular application
