WaterSense Invites Certified Irrigation Professionals, Certifying Organizations, and Promotional Partners to Join the Program

With the release of these first specifications, EPA is pleased to invite organizations that share a commitment to water efficiency to become program partners. Certified irrigation professionals, certifying organizations, and promotional partners are the first partners welcome to join WaterSense. Final Specifications for Certification Programs for Irrigation Professionals Announced

With the release of its first set of final specifications for Certification Programs for Irrigation Professionals, EPA's WaterSense program launched a national effort to transform the marketplace for water-efficient products and programs. Certification programs that earn the WaterSense label are required to test experienced professionals and provide program oversight in order to accurately assess their competency in designing, installing/maintaining and auditing water-efficient landscape irrigation systems. Administrator Johnson Announces WaterSense Program

Administrator Stephen Johnson announced EPA's new WaterSense program June 12 at the American Water Works Association's Annual Conference and Exposition in San Antonio, Texas. The press release that accompanied the announcement describes the program's goal to increase purchases of water-efficient products that perform as well as or better than conventional models. Alliance for Water Efficiency
Published June 2006

Using an EPA grant, the California Urban Water Conservation Council (CUWCC) is proposing to create the Alliance for Water Efficiency—a national partnership on water-use efficiency that will represent the needs of the water-efficiency community, develop initiatives for improved products, research new technologies for saving water, and assemble programs for water utility involvement across the United States.
