Promotional Partners

Promotional partners are utilities, state and local governments, and other organizations that share information with the program and promote WaterSense.

Why Join?

  • Water-efficiency measures as part of broader conservation efforts can help reduce water and wastewater infrastructure costs and protect resources for future generations.

  • Strengthen your water-efficiency outreach efforts with a credible, national brand and a strong, consistent message.

  • Reduce market research costs and increase confidence in promoting water-efficient products that meet or exceed WaterSense specifications.

  • Receive recognition from EPA as an environmental steward and distinguish your organization as a leader in water efficiency by using the WaterSense partner logo.

  • Increase exposure for your organization by being listed as a partner on the WaterSense Web site.

  • Access and customize free tools and resources to help promote WaterSense and the need for water efficiency.

  • Network and collaborate with other WaterSense partners to share resources while increasing the impact of your water-efficiency message.

Am I Eligible?

Utilities, state and local governments, and other nonprofit organizations that promote water efficiency are welcome to become WaterSense promotional partners. In addition, professional and trade associations whose members are eligible to join as WaterSense partners may also participate as promotional partners.

What Should I Know Before I Join?

WaterSense Promotional Partners agree to:

  • Promote value of water efficiency and WaterSense labeled products/programs.
  • Encourage eligible constituents to participate in WaterSense.
  • Provide a brief annual update about water promotional activities.
  • Adhere to label, promotional label, partner logo, and program logo guidelines.
  • Feature WaterSense on Web site/related promotional materials.
  • Abide by the general terms and disclaimers outlined on the partnership agreement.

EPA relies on partners to provide data to estimate water savings:

  • Promotional activities: WaterSense asks all promotional partners to report promotional activities (e.g., WaterSense-related Web pages, workshops, bill inserts, etc.) annually. 
  • Rebates: WaterSense asks utility and government partners to report data annual aggregate data on rebates offered for WaterSense labeled products (if applicable). EPA uses these data to document water savings and assess changes in water consumption over time.

How Do I Join?

  1. Complete and sign a Promotional Partner Partnership Agreement (writeable PDF) (3 pp, 300K, About PDF) with EPA.

  2. Submit your completed document to watersense@epa.gov or fax to (703) 841-1440.
