About the Director of EPA's Science Advisory Board Staff Office
Tom Brennan
Tom Brennan is the Director of EPA's Science Advisory Board Staff Office. In that role, he manages the operations of the Science Advisory Board and the Clean Air Scientific Advisory Committee. Both are Federal Advisory Committees. He has over 30 years of experience working in the fields of policy, risk assessment, and environmental science. Tom has been with the US EPA for 25 years.
Tom previously held leadership roles in EPA's Office of Public Engagement and Environmental Education and Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Protection. He began his career working for consulting firms in the Washington, DC area. His consulting work supported risk assessment activities for EPA and US Departments of Agriculture and Defense.
Tom taught Environmental Science and General Biology as an Adjunct Professor in the Biology Department of Montgomery College from 2011-2014. He has been an active participant in the Society for Risk Analysis where he has given many presentations on risk assessment topics over the years. He earned both a B.S. and an M.S. in Botany/Plant Biology from Ohio University.
