MILL SUPERVISOR PLEADS GUILTY

On Aug. 28, Robert Mann, former mill supervisor at a Louisiana-Pacific Corp., manufacturing facility in Olathe, Colo., pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado in Denver to conspiracy to violate the Clean Air Act. Mann admitted to conspiring to tamper with air emission control equipment and conspiring to falsify emission report data to state and federal regulators to maximize product production in 1991 and 1992. In the process, he concealed emissions of sulfur dioxide, methlyne dioxyisocynate and formaldehyde that exceeded the facility’s discharge permit and caused health problems for a dozen local citizens. Louisiana Pacific and Dana Dulohery, Mann’s manager, still face trial on similar charges. The case was investigated by EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division.
