WATERWAY CLEANUP COMMENT PERIOD EXTENDED
EPA has extended until Dec. 22, the public comment period for its proposal to require comprehensive state cleanup plans for 20,000 impaired waterways across the country. The proposal was announced by President Clinton on Aug. 14. It includes proposed regulatory revisions under the Clean Water Act’s Total Maximum Daily Load (TMDL), the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), and the Water Quality Standards programs. EPA published the comment period extension in the Federal Register on Oct. 1. Additional information can be found at the TMDL web site: https://www.epa.gov/owow/tmdl.
