COUNTY EMPLOYEES INDICTED IN KENTUCKY FOR CLEAN WATER ACT VIOLATIONS
On Oct. 8, three employees of the Ohio County, Ky. Water District were indicted in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky in Louisville. John D. White of Cromwell, Ky.; Carolyn F. Taylor of Beaver Dam, Ky.; and Brenda J. Glenn of Whitesville, Ky., were indicted for allegedly falsifying the turbidity readings of water passing through the District’s sewage treatment plant at Cromwell. White, the plant supervisor, was also charged with obstructing justice by concealing or destroying turbidity recording charts maintained at the plant. If convicted on all counts, White faces a maximum of up to 20 years in prison and/or fines of up to $1 million. Taylor and Glenn each faces up to 15 years in prison and/or fines of up to $750,000, if convicted. The case was investigated by EPA’s Criminal Investigation Division and the FBI.
