BOSC Executive Committee
The BOSC is comprised of an Executive Committee and is supported by subcommittees and panels that it may form for any purpose consistent with the 2024 BOSC Charter (pdf) The BOSC Executive Committee is chartered to provide advice and recommendations on all aspects of ORD’s research programs, including:
- ORD’s research programs and research management practices and actions to improve program structure, scientific leadership, research coordination, communication, and outcomes
- ORD's strategies and approaches to sustain and enhance the quality, timeliness, relevance, responsiveness, and accessibility of science at EPA
- ORD's program development, progress, and research program balance, which includes evaluation of ORD's Strategic Research Action Plans
- ORD's human resources planning, which may include scientist career development and rotational assignment programs, and the appropriate scope and design of training programs for environmental research professionals.
BOSC subcommittees must report their advice and recommendations to the chartered BOSC for full deliberation and discussion, as they do not have the authority to make decisions on behalf of the Executive Committee.
All BOSC members are special government employees and therefore must not possess conflicts of interest, or have an appearance of not being able to provide impartial advice. Therefore, all members must comply with annual ethics reporting and training requirements.
Subcommittees and Panels:
