EPA Press Office Fact Checks the Washington Post’s Coverage of Waste & Abuse of Taxpayer Dollars
WASHINGTON – The Washington Post has devolved into the radical left’s own Pravda. It should come as no surprise that they jump to toe the line and are quick to defend apparent cronyism instead of actually doing the work to investigate on behalf of the American public. It’s no wonder their failing newspaper is hemorrhaging readers. The Trump Administration, however, is committed to accountability and transparency for the American people.
The radical left and the Washington Post may call the allocation of $2 billion to Power Forward Communities (PFC), which is linked to Stacey Abrams, “vastly overblown,” but the American public doesn’t agree.
The Washington Post’s absurd reporting makes the case for us. On Abrams-affiliated PFC’s receipt of the $2 billion, The Post reports:
“The nonprofit entity filed a form with the IRS in 2023 showing $100 in revenue — but as we noted, the application process just started that year, and grants were not awarded until 2024.”
The Biden Administration funneled billions of taxpayer dollars to political favorites and groups without checking for more than the thinnest of qualifications. We suspected many of these organizations were created out of thin air for the purpose of receiving these funds. The Post completely disregards the fact that NONE of the money was transferred out of the federal government until AFTER Election Day. That was evidently on the part of the previous administration to ensure it did not remain in the newly-elected Trump Administration’s hands—essentially tossing “gold bars” off the Titanic.
Since the Washington Post won’t ask the tough questions, we’ll do it for them. If this money was appropriated, awarded, and obligated above board, why did the Biden Administration rush to execute the transfers out of government after Election Day? Why were none of the funds at the bank drawn down until after Inauguration Day? Why would these experienced organizations rely on a new entity with zero experience or track record to apply to and handle the execution of this program for them? Why didn’t they just apply themselves? If Stacey Abrams was just an advisor, why is PFC and their mouthpiece the Washington Post trying to run away from their attachment to her as fast as they can?
The Washington Post continues to tell one side of the story while there is an ongoing federal investigation. The Washington Post itself reported that federal prosecutor Denise Cheung wrote in a memo to the FBI, “her office believed there may be ‘potential violations’ of federal wire fraud and conspiracy statutes meriting additional investigation…”
The Washington Post can continue to defend the radical left’s lunacy, but as their readership dwindles, the facts remain the Biden Administration was nowhere to be found for the hardworking Americans left to contend with the consequences of their terrible policies. It is extremely concerning how far-reaching and widely accepted this waste and abuse of taxpayer dollars is.
