Public Notice: Proposed Settlement with City of Cashmere for Clean Water Act Violations in Washington
Summary
EPA is providing notice of a proposed administrative penalty settlement with the City of Cashmere (respondent) for violations of the Clean Water Act at its wastewater treatment plant located in Cashmere, Washington.
EPA alleges that the respondent:
- Failed to submit timely permit and compliance schedule reports.
- Failed to conduct required monitoring.
- Failed to submit required monitoring reports.
- Failed to meet effluent limits for total suspended solids, phosphorus, fecal coliform, and biological oxygen demand as required by their National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit #WA0023183.
This action is being simultaneously commenced and concluded in a legal document called an Expedited Settlement Agreement. Under the proposed agreement (see "Related Documents" below), the City of Cashmere will pay a civil penalty of $4,125 and has returned to compliance.
