Public Notice: Proposed Settlement with Durham School Services for Safe Drinking Water Act Violations in Alaska
Summary
EPA is providing notice of a proposed administrative penalty settlement with Durham School Services (respondent) for violations of the Safe Drinking Water Act at their facility located in Palmer, Alaska.
EPA alleges that the respondents operated a motor vehicle waste disposal well which, through injection activity, could have allowed the movement of fluid which contained contaminants into Underground Sources of Drinking Water, where those contaminants could have caused a violation of the primary drinking water regulations or otherwise adversely affect people's health. EPA also alleges that the respondent failed to submit inventory information prior to the start of injection into the well.
This action is being simultaneously commenced and concluded in a legal document called a Consent Agreement and Final Order. Under the proposed agreement (see "Related Documents" below), Durham School Services will pay a civil penalty of $164,000.
