Antioch Brackish Water Desalination Project
Project Type: Desalination
Project Description
The City of Antioch will construct the new Antioch Brackish Water Desalination Project with a capacity to produce up to 6 million gallons per day (MGD) of desalinated water to offset the use of purchased water. The City will replace the existing San Joaquin River intake pump station, construct a desalination facility, and construct pipelines for the conveyance of source water and brine concentrate. The purpose of the project is to improve water supply reliability and operational flexibility. The project will allow the City of Antioch to withdraw water from its existing intake even when the salinity is above levels normally treated and provide cost effective operational flexibility to respond to changes in source water quality.
