Bloomington-Normal Wastewater System Modernization and Rehabilitation Program
Population Served by Project: 130,000
Project Description
The Bloomington Normal Wastewater System Modernization and Rehabilitation Program will address aging infrastructure, comprehensive environmental regulations, wet weather capacity concerns, and growing service demands. The projects will modernize outdated and aging systems that serve a sizable population in a rapidly growing region. The Program will include wastewater treatment plant modernization and expansions, implementation of smart sewer technology, and elimination of a combined sewer overflow outfall. The projects will protect public health and the local environment, increase infrastructure resiliency to extreme weather events, and support compliance with current and future regulatory requirements.
