Project Description

The Alternative Water Source Program will construct infrastructure needed to access a new drinking water source to replace the City's reliance on the current source, a sandstone aquifer. This project was selected in FY 2019 for WIFIA funding and is seeking additional funding. The purpose of the project is to provide a sustainable source of drinking water for the City of Joliet and potentially the region. The aquifer currently supplying Joliet’s wells will not meet maximum day demands by 2030.
