Toho One Water Initiative
Population Served by Project: 428,000
Project Description
The Toho One Water Initiative will modernize existing water plants and develop alternative, sustainable water sources to help meet projected water needs in Osceola County. The Upper Floridian aquifer has been a key source of water supply for Tohopekaliga Water Authority. In June 2021, the State of Florida imposed limits on withdrawals for public supply utilities. Consequently, the Toho One Water Initiative will reduce the Tohopekaliga Water Authority’s reliance on the Upper Floridian aquifer to meet the needs of its service area. Projects will upgrade pump stations and pipelines and expand its reclaimed water management system to include more public access reuse irrigation, industrial use, and aquifer recharge.
