EPA's Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is committed to building a high-performing workforce. Our mission is to protect human health and the environment. Special Agents investigate alleged environmental crimes that undermine the integrity of established environmental protection programs, and we focus on investigating crimes which pose significant threats to human health and the environment. To accomplish our mission, we rely upon Special Agents with a variety of backgrounds, experience, and skill sets. We value curiosity, persistence, patience, and great people skills. The work is extensive and complex, so Special Agents must possess sound judgement and the ability to apply unique problem-solving strategies to meet evolving challenges.
