 Week 4 - Update Software

1. What does updating software do?
   1. Updating software, or patching, is when the manufacturer released an update that is used to close up any known vulnerabilities but also provide the latest features of that software.
2. Automatic Updates
   1. This setting can be enabled to install updates as soon as they are released from the software manufacturer.  A system restart is usually required to fully install updates.
3. Regularly check for updates
   1. If automatic updating isn’t possible, check for updates manually as a regular habit.  Creating a schedule to check for updates can decrease the stress of remembering specific dates.
4. Don’t fall for fake updates
   1. Avoid falling for pop-ups that urgently demand that an update be downloaded.  These can lead to malware being downloaded.  Also, these pop-ups are often initiated by malware so a scan is recommended if these pop-ups are seen.
